Stephen Sandler, a partner in Gould & Ratner’s Real Estate Practice, was recognized as one of 40 real estate professionals to be inducted into Midwest Real Estate News’ (MREN) 2022 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame.
In profiling Stephen, Midwest Real Estate News noted, “Though he’s built a career that has lasted for more than 55 years, Sandler hasn’t relied on any secret tricks. When asked how he’s remained successful for so long, his answer is simple: due diligence and preparation. He also cites the importance of hard work and being willing to interact with many people.”
Stephen focuses his practice on complex, high-stakes projects involving major office buildings, hotels, apartment buildings, industrial buildings and unimproved land. He has particular depth of skill in structuring transactions and all phases of financing, including construction, interim, permanent, mezzanine, securitized and equity funding that is provided by banks, institutions, pension funds, REITs and private lenders. He has been named to U.S. News Best Lawyers list for 2022 and 2023, has been recognized as an Illinois SuperLawyer in Real Estate since 2005 and has been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer in the areas of Commercial Real Estate Law and Real Estate Finance. Stephen is a member of the Chicago Mortgage Attorneys Association and the Chicago Bar Association Real Property Committee and Real Property Finance Subcommittee. Stephen serves as a board member and previous chair for CJE Senior Life. He is a board member of North Side Housing and a former board member of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.
