Bob Carson, a longtime litigator at Gould & Ratner, celebrated his retirement from Gould & Ratner at the end of 2024 after more than 42 years.

Bob joined Gould & Ratner’s Litigation Practice as an associate in 1982 and was later promoted to partner.  He moved to Of Counsel at the firm in 2016, while still handling a diverse caseload, including various tort and products liability matters for several clients, as well as other commercial litigation matters.

A seasoned litigator, Bob tried numerous jury and non-jury lawsuits and arbitrations in state and federal courts in Illinois and other jurisdictions during his career.  In addition to his commercial litigation and products liability experience, Bob also handled several matters representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries in litigation relating to trusts and estates, often involving issues relating to interests in a family or other closely held businesses.

“Bob’s friendly but no-nonsense approach to litigation won him many clients and admirers over his years at the firm,” said Eric Sparks, chair of Gould & Ratner’s Litigation Practice.   “He set an outstanding example and standards for professionalism, integrity and outstanding advocacy.”

Bob earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law.  He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

We congratulate Bob on this exciting milestone and wish him the best!
