Gould & Ratner recently represented Gillig LLC in a joint venture with RR.AI (the commercial division of Robotic Research). Robotic Research is a leader in autonomous mobility and robotics solutions. The joint venture will develop driver assistance and implement self-driving vehicle technology for Gillig's commuter buses, beginning with its latest electric bus model. The technology could protect drivers through safety features including automatic emergency breaking, precision docking, blind spot detection and pedestrian avoidance. It also would allow a vehicle to drive itself under specific circumstances, but most of the time a human driver would still be required.
Brian Gilbert, a Managing Partner and Chair of the Corporate Practice, led the transaction team that included Sevan Avakian, Ammara Khan and Susan Mosteller.
